Lead from the long hand
Ace, ten, five, four in dummy; king and nine in your hand. Four cards opposite two, and the queen and jack are missing.
Everything you have learned so far says lead towards the honours. Here that is wrong. The nine is the card that might grow, and it can only grow if a defender has been made to spend an honour first — so the lead comes from the long hand.
