The course
Leading toward honours
Step 1 of 4
Towards the queen-jack
Queen, jack, five, three in dummy; king, seven, four in your hand. The ace is missing, and you have two honours facing one.
Everything turns on which hand leads. Lead an honour and the defender takes it when it suits him. Lead towards one and he has to choose before he knows whether it will cost him anything.
Take 3 tricks.
Dummy
Lead from either hand.
Play a card from either hand. Play the line you would play — nothing here is scored, and you can start the suit again whenever you like.
