The course
The intra-finesse
Step 3 of 4
The same technique, one round later
Jack, nine, eight, two in dummy; ace and three small in your hand. The king, queen and ten are missing, and the plan is the one you have just learned — small towards the eight, and if West spends an honour on it, come back and run the jack through his ten.
The plan is right. There is one card to play before it, and it is the sort of card that is easy to leave until it is too late.
Take 3 tricks.
Dummy
Lead from either hand.
Play a card from either hand. Play the line you would play — nothing here is scored, and you can start the suit again whenever you like.
